چکیده

This study evaluated and compared the efficacy of a live (intermediate plus strain) and two killed (produced from intermediate plus and intermediate strains of viruses) infectious bursal disease vaccines in commercial Isa brown cockerel chicks. Two hundred and eighty, one day old chicks were divided into four groups of seventy chicks each. Group 1, 2 and 3 were vaccinated with live vaccine, killed vaccine A (produced from intermediate plus strain) and killed vaccine B (produced from intermediate strain) respectively while group 4 was not vaccinated. Vaccination was conducted at 9 and 16 days of age with group 1 vaccinated orally and groups 2 and 3 vaccinated intramuscularly via the leg muscles. Blood was collected from 15 chicks in each group weekly from 2 to 44 days of age. Twenty chicks from each group were challenged with a very virulent infectious bursal disease virus (vvIBDV) at 30 days of age. Agar gel precipitation test (AGPT) performed on the sera revealed that the group vaccinated with live vaccine had the highest percentage of chicks with antibody at all ages followed by group 2 (killed vaccine A). Precipitin antibodies were not detected in chicks in groups 3 (killed vaccine B) and 4 (unvaccinated) at all ages. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) performed on the same set of sera revealed that Angani M T 1* , Abdu P A 2 and Sa'idu L 3

Comparison of Pathogenicity and Serologic Response of Four Commercial Infectious Bursal Disease Live Vaccines.

Various commercial vaccines for immunization of broiler chickens against infectious bursal disease (IBD) are available, so it would be appropriate to compare the pathogenicity and immune response of chickens to these vaccines. In this study the pathogenicity and serologic response of four IBD vaccines, cloned D78®, Bursine-2®, Bursimune® and Cevac Gambo-L®, were evaluated in specific pathogen f...

Isolation, Characterization and Standardization of New Infectious Bursal Disease Virus for Development of a Live Vaccine

Background and Aims: Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is an acute contagious viral disease of birds worldwide. The causative virus induces a persistent immune suppression following destroy B lymphocytes precursors in bursal lymphoid follicles. Vaccination is the main strategy for prevention of the disease in commercial poultry industry. Materials and Methods: To produce a live vaccine against th...

Synbiotic enhances immune responses against infectious bronchitis, infectious bursal disease, Newcastle disease and avian influenza in broiler chickens

Increased susceptibility of birds to avian pathogens in intensive husbandry system has emphasized on necessity of improvement of innate and specific immune responses of birds by the fast establishment of a beneficial microflora and immune stimulator factors to guarantee healthy and low-price products. During this study, 192 one-day-old broiler chicks (Ross-380) in four groups with three replica...

Protective efficacy of commercial live vaccines against very virulent infectious Bursal disease virus (vvIBDV) in Ghana

In spite of the intensive and varied vaccination procedures to control Infectious Bursa Disease (IBD), the emergence of a very virulent (vv) IBD pathotype in Ghana has led to high economic losses in the poultry industry. The potencies of two live intermediate IBD vaccine strains (TAD and Nobilis D78) and an intermediate-plus (hot) vaccine strain (228E) used in Ghana were evaluated by challengin...
